Man attempts to rape minor girl in Jharkhand's Ramgarh; arrested

A 50-year-old man allegedly raped a nine-year-old girl at Sayal under Bhurkunda police station in Ramgarh. The incident happened on Friday at 3 pm and was reported to the police on Sunday.

Notably the child was playing outside the house when accused Dinesh Pandey took the girl inside the house and raped her. The girl herself made such a claim in her application to the Bhurkunda police station.

Among the family members, the girl's maternal grandfather said that an application was made to the police station and she was told that the bleeding and pain from her private part did not stop after the incident. She then informed her mother about the whole incident. The child now lives in his maternal grandfather's house. Medicines, etc., were provided to the child.

On Saturday, an attempt was made at the local level to resolve the matter, but the matter reached the police station. After that, the girl was sent to Ramgarh Sadar Hospital for medical test by Bhurkund Police on Sunday. Once the police were informed, the accused fled and left Sayal. The defendant is said to be a local priest.

Amit Kumar, in-charge of Bhurkunda police station, said the investigation was on after a case was registered under the POCSO Act. Efforts are on to nab the accused.
